
Jonathon Sylvester
Junior Barrister
Jono was admitted to the bar in March 2023. He has been involved in resource management, civil, commercial and employment litigation. He has appeared in matters ranging from Council hearings, District Court, High Court and Court of Appeal proceedings, including in the successful appeal in Page v Greater Wellington Regional Council [2023] NZCA 20. Jono focuses on resource management, local government, construction and commercial litigation.

Alongside practising, he is currently doing a research master's in resource management and environmental law at Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington.

His university career resulted in impressive accolades recognising his impressive advocacy skills. Jono received awards for:

Jono joined Rubicon Chambers as a clerk in 2022 and assisted the senior barristers with a wide range of legal matters, including complex civil litigation, environmental law issues, and complex criminal cases.
​
As a junior barrister, Jono is employed by Stephen and available for instructions in civil and RMA matters.
